“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

“Men dere er en utvalgt slekt, et kongelig presteskap, et hellig folk, et folk til eiendom, for at dere skal forkynne hans storverk, han som kalte dere fra mørket til sitt underfulle lys.”

“The LORD said to Abram: Go from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, I will curse anyone who treats you with contempt, and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

“Herren sa til Abram: ‘Dra bort fra ditt land og fra din slekt og fra din fars hus til det landet som jeg skal vise deg. Jeg vil gjøre deg til et stort folk, jeg vil velsigne deg og gjøre ditt navn stort, og du skal bli til velsignelse. Jeg vil velsigne dem som velsigner deg, og den som forbanner deg, vil jeg forbanne. I deg skal alle slekter på jorden velsignes.'”

“Now if you will carefully listen to me and keep my covenant, you will be my own possession out of all the peoples, although the whole earth is mine, and you will be my kingdom of priests and my holy nation. These are the words that you are to say to the Israelites.”

“Dersom dere nå virkelig vil høre min røst og holde min pakt, da skal dere være min eiendom framfor alle folkene – for hele jorden er min. Dere skal være et kongerike av prester og et hellig folk for meg. Dette er de ordene du skal tale til Israels barn.”

“Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

“Dere som før ikke var et folk, men nå er Guds folk, dere som ikke hadde fått miskunn, men nå har fått miskunn.”

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.”

“For vi er hans verk, skapt i Kristus Jesus til gode gjerninger, som Gud på forhånd har lagt ferdige for at vi skulle vandre i dem.”
